4chan is an "Internet hate machine" which consists of "hackers on steroids" and "domestic terrorists" according to Faux news. It is actually an anonymous Japanimation-themed collection of image boards based on the popular Japanese site 2ch.jp. 4chan is proof positive that the US should not have stopped with Hiroshima and Nagasaki, but should have nuked the entire island of Japan off the face of the Earth. The site is full of fail, n00bs directed from Digg, and idiots, all of whom have at least some variant of social anxiety disorder. So, not surprisingly, most of the image boards consist of hentai.
4chan is the lean, mean, meme-making machine. Many memes, such as "sauce plz". Also, many Image Macros are created there, such as Caturday and others. This has led to Anonymous declaring itself "the face of the internet", when it is truly more reminiscent of the anus of the internets. 4chan is like the anus of the internet in that it holds all the content inside the rectum so it doesn't spray out all over. When 4chan goes down, it's like the internet has explosive diarrhea.
And no, /b/ was never good.

 /b/ even have their own 70s boyband  If you don't know who any of these things are, you need to LURK MOAR. /b/ always offers good advice The seasoned internet traveler might find himself debased when presented by the mass of confusion which is so well embodied in 4chan. 4chan is the home of asocial, and at times anti-social, white folk who believe in the superiority of everything that is Japanese because 4chan users love anime. It is divided into many sub-boards, each having its distinct theme for image posting to satisfy the deviant mind. Occasionally to stir up some fun, the mods place wordfilters in the boards to completely mess around with peoples' posts/opinions. When it comes down to it, every board on 4chan is just /b/ with a theme. Everyone talks the same, complains the same, and trolls the same. Except the hentai boards, they're special.
- /a/ - See /v/. /a/ is just /v/ for anime and churns out their own memes at a similar rate. They hate anime just like /v/ hates the vidya. No longer tame by any standard, it has become a hive of numbers and ronrey otakus seeking PROMOTIONS.
- /an/ - Board for posting
animals mai pet cat. These people take their hobby very seriously. You will learn things you never needed to know about ferrets, iguanas, and jumping spiders.
- /b/ - Random board; anything goes. By far the most popular board on 4chan, /b/ is home to one of the widest arrays of pornography on the web. Although /b/ was never good, it is now hopelessly overrun with insufferable emo tools (aka successful trolls). Unless you're interested in camgirls, reposts from six months ago, furries and fail memes, just don't bother anymore. /b/ has appeared to be near death many times, but it's unlikely that it will ever truly die. It just gets exponentially worse every day.
- /c/ - A very tame board (compared to the rest) for nerds who prefer Japanese cartoons containing girls (and I use the term lightly) who look like 4 year olds with freakishly huge eyes. One of the 4 realms where women could plausibly exist on the internet.
- /cgl/ - Board full of weeaboo that partake in cosplaying. Images of people dressed as their favorite anime characters are posted here. A very woeful board indeed.
- /ck/ - Board for people who have an unhealthy obsession on all things edible. Expect weeaboos and ramen.
- /cm/ - A haven for gaia/Lj users and obese trailer trash. One of the 4 realms where women exist on the internet.
- /co/ - Contrary to what you may infer from the title, there's nothing but non-comics & cartoons threads here. It's populated mostly by fat guys that have never had a girlfriend and furries.
- /d/ - Perhaps the hottest of all the cartoon boards on 4chan, /d/ is where they post images of hermaphroditic females with titanically oversized Breasts. It should be noted that those on this board find such things sexually attractive. But at least they don't post furries!
- /e/ - A specialized cartoon board where they post naked women without explicitly showing their reproductive organs . Wholly uninteresting, because it tends not to contain hilarious gross fetishes or things blowing up.
- /g/ - A new addition full of folk lacking in life and substituting it with superficial techno-worship. It is evident to the observant electronic eye that no knowledgeable persons reside there. It is merely filled with those who would want to be such, but lack the competence and morale to ascend to real technological wizardry. It used to be for guro images, but then 4chan went soft, SOFT I say!
- /gif/ - Board for posting animated GIFs of naughty pictures clips and saying "sauce" and "rapidshare" until someone goes out, finds you naughty pictures, and delivers it you. Seriously, are you people that devoted to being such utter basement-dwellers you can't just find your own naughty pictures, you have to get /gif/ to do it for you?
- /h/ - Hentai board. You can almost smell their keyboards.
- /hr/ - Board for High Res pics. Basically, pictures that are HUEG like Xbox.
- /i/ - No, this is not an invasion board, but a board for drawing. Why moot didn't just choose a different letter for the board is anyone's guess. The "i" comes from Oekaki, which is the Wapanese word for "doodle" or "scribble." The board has a built-in Java application for drawing pictures to upload and share, called Shi-Painter. Not a bad board, but not very popular. Gets about a dozen or so posts per day.
- /ic/ - Birkhead and drawwhores.
- /jp/ - A board made for the sole purpose of moving all the Touhou and Type-Moon, which used to make up about 85% of all the threads, outside of /a/, because they're actually off-topic. Full of ronery otakus buying figurines, body pillows, and other stuff "normal" people would look down on you for possessing.
- /k/ - Realm of the /k/ommandos who idolize Germany, are tsundere for Slavs, hate anything darker than milk and where every Glock might as well be a hand grenade. It's full of self hating weeaboos who pretend not to appreciate the beauty of a loli-jet. Also popular with /k/: Desert Beagles, the MEATBALL, symmetrical docking, if you know what I mean, Motoko Kusanagi and comparing American and Russian pieces of military technology (AK47 vs AR15, F22 vs PAKFA, Abrams vs T90 etc).
- /m/ - Board for talking about robots. Just robots.
- /mu/ - Your favorite band sucks. If you've forgotten, /mu/ is happy to remind you. Made exclusively for discussing trv kvlt Black Metal, Daft Punk, and Dragonforce
- /o/ - Board for cars. No one on this board actually owns a car. Regardless, most of the posters like Volvos, late 1980's Mustangs, Japanese economy cars, and Initial D.
- /p/ - Board for cameras and photography. Full of pretentious wankery by weeaboos who consider themselves artistic photographers.
- /po/ Board for Origami and papercraft. It's been years since any normal person has actually cared about origami but, hey, it's Japanese so it must be cool! /po/ recently suffered an invasion led by many Jacks from /b/, insistent on turning /po/ into /i/.
- /r/ - This is a largely unused board that exists to have all four people who visit it post requests that never get answered. The true purpose of this board is so when people post images of the appropriate type in a board, they can get banned for "this iz not /r/!!!!!11" and to allow moderators to be officious jerks. However, if the same image were posted without a sentence existing next to it saying "this is a cool picture, I wonder if one of you could tell me where it's from?" it would be left alone, because apparently text is more important than images on an imageboard.
- /s/ - A place for pre-teen fanboys to yell NAME! SAUCE! MOAR! and request pr0n. Not /r/
- /t/ - ZOMG TORRENT PL0X
- /tg/ - For the 4channer demography that so desperately needs to evade from reality, they even play tabletop RPGs (Which everybody knows are against the will of our Lord, Jesus Christ, and well, just plain wrong). Posting anything other than Warhammer: 40,000, D&D, Magic: The Gathering or naughty pictures will get you banned. Srsly.
- /tv/ - Television board.
- /u/ - Yuri board. For obnoxious feminazis, underage b&s and and self-hating neckbeards who believe every piece of feminazi propaganda they come across. Despite popular belief, actual 2D lesbian naughty pictures is never posted here.
- /v/ - /b/ with video games. Populated by trolls, former GameFAQs users, former /b/tards, Nintendo fanboys, trolls, and people who love PROMOTIONS. Threads are usually about how Sony and Sonic suck.
- /w/ - For all wallpapers anime.
- /wg/ - This is a general wallpaper board with things ranging from cars to girls to anime to just about anything else a teenage boy could desire yet not be able to afford, now or ever.
- /y/ - This is where girls and guys love gay anime boys. Enjoy.
- /x/ -/b/ with ghosts. Since the tragic loss of 7chan, /x/ contracted the cancer that is killing everything else and is now another /b/.
- /z/ - The secret haven for /z/ oldies. Go there. Right now.
Trial boards:
- /fa/ - Fashion. /y/ for when the clothes are still on.
- /fit/ - Health & Fitness. Made out of fatsos who think posting SQUATZ in every thread is funny. Seeing as nobody on
/fit/ 4chan actually works out, the fail is doubled.
- /hc/ - Hardcore. naughty pictures, specifically. Seriously, just use Google.
- /n/ -
Transportation Trains, replacing News. /n/ew users were not amused, because nobody cares about them so we got this crap.
- /r9k/ - The most popular of the trial boards. Wants to be /b/ without reposts. Something of an impossibility, since 99% of /b/ is reposts of reposts of reposts. Populated by Gaia lovers, Digg fans, rejects from DA and LJ, and the fools who desire to lord over them.
- /sp/ - Sports. A pretty decent board when it isn't buried in threads about USA vs Europe, or about how BAWWston sucks. 18-1 people!
- /toy/ - Toys. Feel bad about your life? Go here and feel 1000% better.
- /trv/ - Travel. As in outside of mom's basement.
4chan administrators
 4chan's moot shortly after gaining his diploma in Mexican Vice Studies. - W. T. Snacks is a loser, he compensates for this fact by banning everyone at the slightest provocation. This makes him cool but, was banned from 4chan himself. He posts with the tripcode template.
- Moot used to be somewhat cool, or as cool as someone on the internet can be, posting pictures of himself as a guy in Mexico who graduated high school with a degree in Mexican studies. Later he revealed his true identity at numerous conventions, even showing up with random losers behaving as if they were his bodyguards. It also seems he was under-aged b& when he made 4chan. Likes soup.
- MrSpooky is an ex-mod who spawned the catchphrases "I've never seen so many ingrates" and "You'll get nothing from me." He frequently made stickies on /b/ begging for money because he got thrown in jail and now he needs donations to pay off his court fees. Smells real great.
- Allyson - a fat, underage loser that looks like the ugly tree beat her throughout childhood. Managed to suck up to Moot long enough for him to give her Mod status. During all of this she apparently stalked a 4channer from her hometown. She's a filthy camwhore that probably has dozens of STDs and suffers from a severe case of wapanese.
UnderageB&
 Underage B&s are the cancer that is killing /b/. Before cancer took over 4chan, most users were above the age of 18. Thanks mainly due to gore. /b/ used to be a horrifying place and only those with the mental stability to handle these horrors had the balls to even lurk. Now, however, every post is written by someone around age 12. These kids found out about 4chan through researching Habbo Hotel. Most hang around because /b/ is turning into the new Ebaumsworld, with funny parodies on real-world events, pics of people SHOOPIN DER WHOOPS (SO KAWAII!), and a place to get free sexy time pix without getting a virus as well.
This problem could be easily fixed if 4chan's mods grew some balls and started overly enforcing the ban hammer, but we all know that will never happen since if it did, there would be no /b/ left.
4chan hates you
It is safe to say that 4chan hates you, and will screw you over first chance it gets, even if you are a member especially if you are a member. 4chan even hates it's own admins and mods. In fact, 4chan hates you about as much as your mom, and would churn out extremely insulting and hurtful memes about you, if it wasn't busy with other stuff.
