What is WhatPort80's Stance on Lol Cows?

The number one reason I wrote for ED was for trolling deviantART users and the like. Articles like Snapesnogger and LittleCloud which documented all their drama were the main attraction for me. Is stuff like that allowed here on WhatPort80? LoliHAETpizza 04:22, 30 December 2009 (UTC)

  • I don't think LittleCloud has matured at all. The reason her article hasn't had much new content is because she does the same old shit over and over. She still draws pedophile anime, furry artwork, she still writes crybaby journals, and as of lately she's been trying to pass herself off as a male.   • WP80 needs to avoid anything that is an attack article. People like Chris Crocker are ok and anything else that has been in more mainstream news. But no people that are super niche and "inside". It needs to be really applicable to the mainstream and internet users that are really familiar with the lolcow concept. Plus we don't want to be offensive to people who might read or be subjects of articles. To go further, it's important to let ED keep being ED and housing pretty much anything and everything is fine at ED, so just let it live there and maybe skip it here. --Girlvinyl 17:51, 8 January 2010 (UTC)

So, yeah, it appears that, just like on ED, direct links to articles beginning with a slash behave oddly. It is necessary to link to a redirect page, such B or B/, otherwise you're just linking to http://b A lot of pages contain these broken links; if someone wants or needs a cleanup task, you might visit Special:Whatlinkshere//b/ and correct any direct links to the article. Can the Joseph Evers article be made appropriate for this website?

I saw it's not there because it was deleted as innapropriate content. The only thing I can think of is there's a lot of mention of drugs. His YouTube factual documentary video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RQqsNrPd4oI is pretty much all the info on him you need to know summed up right there and it's work safe or youtube would have flagged it as otherwise. --Ritegroic 15:07, 17 January 2010 (UTC)

The CAPTCHA needs to go

If you look at Special:Recentchanges then you'll see there's pretty much no edits at all there. The reason for this is that EVERY SINGLE PAGE that a non-sysop edits, they must solve a CAPTCHA. Sysops of Whatport80 don't get this so they don't notice or care, but this is why nobody edits there. Traffic increases and increased, but not edits. If WP80 got rid of the CAPTCHA permanently, then the userbase would gradually build up, though not immediately because people would need to see that the CAPTCHA is gone. --Ritegroic 15:11, 17 January 2010 (UTC)

Satire, parody, and humor in WP80

How much in WP80 is there to be satire and parody? As much as ED? None at all? Something in between? And how much are pages required to be humorous in WP80 as opposed to be factual? There's no documents I can find in the help on this and this needs to be addressed. --Ritegroic 20:12, 27 January 2010 (UTC)

WP80 is, at its core, a sanitized ED to help raise ad revenue and allow us to view articles in more public places. So basically the humor will be the same (in fact most articles are near-copies of the originals) but with less shock and dirty language. However, I think we have some license to make other changes; this is a wiki, after all. I know I had to completely rewrite the YTP article to be both SFW and informative. Weird Error?

Been trying to upload an mp3 and it keeps telling me ".MP3" is not a permitted file type. Permitted file types are PNG, MP3, png, gif, jpg, jpeg, ogg, mp 3, wav, zip, wmv, avi, mov, mpg, bmp, mpeg." Which just doesn't make any sense to me. --macdsj1 Monday, February 1, 2010 at 17:03:39(UTC)

Easy way to censor images you've found that are NSFW

  • Since it has been blacklisted, you can't comment on it (SysOps seem to be able to, as I get a typical editing page). As to why it has been blacklisted in the first place, it is most likely for pre-emptive anti-wiki-exploit reasons as far as I know, but you'll have to take that up with Girlvinyl.

Threat Levels

Right, I'd typed something properly about this but one of my chrome plugins decided to give me the finger and I lost my edit. Point is, there's going to be a main page that does not stay the same all the time and it's going to have threat levels. Since it would take forever to upload them all from the other other wiki we've decided (as in, two sysops on IRC) to open the posting of these images from users.

Here are a few guidelines:

  • Upload the image into Category:Threats
  • Image size must be 150x50 pixels.
  • Image must say "THREAT ADVISORY" on it somewhere.
  • And also have a big rectangle with text on it.

The first two have been done for you.
